Top Gun: Maverick is a 2022 American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski. It was written by Ehren Krueger, Eric Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie from a story invented by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. A sequel to Top Gun (1986), the film stars Tom Cruise as test pilot Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell alongside Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glenn Powell, Louis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. Cruise and Kilmer reprise their roles from the first film, and the film is dedicated to Top Gun director Tony Scott, who died in 2012.
